Let’s Talk Travel: Must-Haves for Better Trips!
I recently got back from a trip and I got the flu over the weekend, so it’s been kinda rough over here. While I was on my trip, I took a look around my hotel room and thought I am SO glad I packed some things to make my travels more enjoyable and homey. Today’s blog post is all about travel must-haves, little things that made a difference!

Before we dive in, here’s a motivational quote to kick off this post:
“Have fun, even if it’s not the same kind of fun that everyone else is having”
– CS Lewis
LOVE this reminder. It’s your life! Do what hobbies make you happy.
Now, let’s chat travel must haves. While traveling for work or fun, there are a few things on my MUST pack list to make the trips feel a bit more homey and to make things more relaxing.

Here are 5 travel must-haves to make long trips better:
- Shower bombs: I have said it before and I will say it again and again… a shower bomb is a LUXURY experience. It’s like a mini spa day without the ridiculousness of a bathbomb. I say ridiculousness because let’s be real who has the time to “draw a bath” or sit and soak in the tub on a frequent basis. It’s a nice thought, but it’s a lot to set up. Shower bombs are compact, easy to pack, and you simply throw them in your shower and you’re good to go! Here is a link to my personal favorite brand.
- Eye Masks: Another easy way to have a luxury trip… pack some eye masks for after your shower. Picture this, you worked all day and now you are winding down after a nice hot shower with some sweatpants, sleepytime tea, and eye masks. It’s wonderful! Plus it helps with puffy eyes from travel days. Here’s a link to the eye masks I use.
- A good book: book club fam, I am looking at you! Pack a GOOD book with you. One you’ll want to read on the plane when you get tired of listening to my podcast hehe just kidding, or one you’ll look forward to reading as you wind down at night… rather than scrolling through the hotel rooms 6 channels half of which are old game shows.
- Magic Mind! Let’s talk about productivity while traveling.. It’s not always easy. You might be thinking about the status of your flight, when the hotel will let you check in, or how you can focus on the flight with loud passengers on the aircraft… However, we have a lot on our lists for 2024 and I am confident that we will crush it! To be more efficient, to cross off more items on your to do list… Let’s just say we have a helper for that and it’s called Magic Mind.I started taking Magic Mind because it’s so easy to incorporate into my morning routine, it tastes great, and it helps me focus. The Magic Mind team created a sweet offer for me to share with you guys. You can get 1 month free, when subscribing for 3 months at Magicmind.com/JANBecks. Use my code BECKS20 for an extra 20% off, which gets you to a 75% off! This only lasts until the end of January, so hurry before it goes away. These bottles are small and fit great in your suitcase or carry on! (This is an affiliate link)
- Supplements: Let’s be real, traveling is full of GERMS. Your home, your usual interactions, your typical environment…your body is used to that! When you travel, your surrounded by new people, places, things, and bacteria.. Makes you really want to travel doesn’t it? I picked up a fun little pill holder from the dollar store and packed it with my daily supplements for my most recent trip.. Hot tip-remember to actually take them while you’re traveling. I did not and let’s just say I paid the price when I got sick… I highly recommend a small pill holder with your daily supplements and some extra vitamin c to boost that immune system.. Not an expert, just your pal who cares about you!
There are a few more must-haves, totally optional, but I think they make a big difference:
- Your pillow. I am BOUGIE about pillows, I am also not sure if that makes sense? Is bougie a verb? An adjective ? oh well, you get the point. I have a chiropractic pillow.. I was in a car accident in early college that really messed with my neck and upper back and anyways, it’s not easy for me to find a “good” hotel room pillow. It’s just not realistic-they’re either too firm or too soft and mushy and honestly, it’s kind of intimate? Like lying your face down on a pillow that so many other people used… yes in theory I know they washed the pillow sheet but still… If you can bring your pillow, I recommend it. Same goes for sheets, but yes I know that’s a bit extreme.
- Headphones! I can’t believe this did not make the top 5 but headphones are a must bring… not just for planes, trains, and automobiles, but for hotel workouts and walks outside and for catching up on your favorite podcast-Branding with Becks! (Weekly on Monday’s)
- Okay really now for the last one.. Comfortable pajamas! This really makes things better. If you had a long travel day, isn’t the best feeling changing into a comfy pair of pjs?

You are busy, on the go, and productive people and that sometimes we have to travel and step outside our normal routine. This packing list helps me to romanticize the travel experience, and really helps when being away from home.
