Let’s get started! First, I planned the party for a Saturday night in October, carefully choosing the date to make sure my friends could all attend. I purchased the Murder Mystery party kit from Amazon for about $20 and it included invitations, character cards, links to the videos, and more!

After confirming attendees and mailing character profiles, I spent days preparing, decorating my home with haunted mansion style decor, candles, and eerie music to create the perfect spooky atmosphere. The theme for our party was “The Champagne Murder” and it took place in the 1960s at Lord Michael Jaggard’s London mansion.

I am not much of a Halloween fan, but this party was a fun excuse to dress up and get mysterious! Inside each character book contained character details and outfit ideas. Each of my friends was encouraged to wear costumes that sparkled with creativity. As gossip columnist Tamara Fara Bucktooth, I opted for a Miss Scarlet from Clue vibe with a red satin dress, MaryJane pumps, and statement jewelry. We all looked forward to the delightful mix of laughter and thrills that would fill the evening.

I set up the table with an array of beautifully arranged menus that featured the delectable recipes included in the party kit, alongside elegant place settings that enhanced the festive atmosphere. The chicken came out delicious, perfectly seasoned and juicy; however, I would recommend preparing it in advance to allow for a more seamless experience. This way, you can spend much more time mingling with guests, enjoying their company, and indulging in the delightful conversations that naturally unfold during a celebration, rather than being tied down to the kitchen. The effort put into planning and preparation truly pays off, enabling everyone, including yourself, to savor the moment fully.

The game took a few hours, as we fully immersed ourselves in the experience. We read our character lines meticulously, ensuring we captured the essence of our roles. As we questioned each other with a mix of curiosity and suspicion, the tension in the room grew palpable. To enhance the atmosphere, we watched the video clues provided after each script reading, which added an extra layer of intrigue to our investigation. The commentator, with a flair for humor and drama, reminded us of Austin Powers, injecting light-hearted moments amid the suspense.

We all eagerly revealed who we thought the murderer was, generating a sense of excitement and anticipation. To our surprise, no one guessed it! The plot twist left us both shocked and entertained, and we laughed together at our failed theories and wild guesses.

As a fun interactive finale, my prize of champagne and a skull mug had to be raffled off with raffle tickets. Ultimately, we popped the champagne and celebrated our detective work and the night’s events together, toasting to our shared experience.

It was a truly memorable gathering, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a bit of mystery.
