Effective Strategies for Unplugging and Boosting Productivity

Daily writing prompt
How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?

It’s time for me to unplug when I start to feel symptoms of burnout. The best time to unplug is certainly before this point, and I am actively working on realizing it sooner. It is so important to take time away from electronics, to be in our thoughts and feels, and to sign offline. When I unplug, I find that I am significantly more productive, more creative, and I am able to refill my social battery. I can brainstorm plans and ideas and I do my best thinking in this state.

When it is time for me to step away, unplug, disconnect, and reset, I have a few protocols to make it happen. Here are a few tips to unplug:

-Take a nice long walk. The sunshine, sweat, and steps really helps to disconnect with electronics and reconnect with nature and the world around us.

-Do not hold your phone. While walking, this can be in a fanny pack or belt bag so it is out of reach.

-Read a book. This can be any genre that excites you, do not limit yourself to books on business or work.

-Journal. The good ole pen to paper can help thoughts and creative ideas flow- allow yourself to access this state of mind.

Hope you found these tips useful. This daily prompt definitely reminded me of the importance of unplugging, and now that the weekend is here-I plan to do just that!
