As we navigate through the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing, it’s crucial to analyze our social media strategies thoroughly. Here are my top 3 Social Media analytics to review as I head into the new year:
Top Performing Content on Instagram
What content received the HIGHEST engagement, meaning what did my followers and non-followers enjoy seeing SO MUCH that they took the time to like, comment, share, or save? It’s essential to analyze this data thoroughly because understanding the specifics around engagement will help refine future content strategies. While reviewing this, I want to really dive into the comments, saves, and shares in detail! Comments not only provide direct feedback but also spark conversations that can enrich community interaction. Saves indicate valuable content that users want to revisit, while shares are KEY to getting more exposure, reaching broader audiences, and potentially increasing audience size significantly. By focusing on the nuances of these metrics, I can create a more tailored approach that resonates with existing followers and attracts new ones, leading to a more engaged and growing community.

Top Content Styles on Instagram and Overall
Of my top content, which styles really seemed to resonate with my audience? Was it Instagram stories, messages, reels, static posts, carousel posts, etc? This will help me decide whether to share more reels or more carousel posts and also proves how I can connect more as I create more content on the platform.
Apart from Instagram, what other social media content resonated with my overall audience? Was it my blog posts/writing? Was it my short-form videos? Was it my podcast audio files? It’s important to see that top content styles are performing well, so I can plan what content to focus on in the new year.

Audience Demographics
Who is consuming your content? I plan to take a look at my audience demographics including age, location, active times online and more to see if people are enjoying my content focused on my geography such as events or local must-dos, or if the audience is more spread out and prefers more style, branding, and travel focused content.
Understanding engagement rates, audience demographics, and content performance will not only help in refining our approach but also in maximizing our outreach and impact. By focusing on these analytics, we can formulate a robust strategy that aligns with our goals and resonates with our target audience for the upcoming year.
It’s also important to take time to decide what content you enjoy creating and sharing, as this introspective process not only helps to identify your passions but also enhances your authenticity as a creator! By merging and aligning the content you love with what resonates with your audience, you can create a perfect combination that captivates and engages your viewers. This thoughtful approach allows for a more vibrant creative output, fostering a genuine connection with your audience and encouraging them to engage more deeply with your work. Ultimately, this synergy between personal enjoyment and audience interest can lead to more fulfilling and successful content creation.
