Lessons Learned from Portrait Photography

I thought portrait photography would teach me about cameras… It ended up teaching me about people instead.

Here’s a few lesson I’ve learned from portrait sessions:

1. Compliments go a long way: A genuine compliment can completely change someone’s confidence and energy.

2. Ask people about their story: Everyone has a fascinating story when someone takes the time to listen.

3. Live in the moment: The best photos usually happen between the poses- the laughter, the connection, the little moments nobody planned.

Every session reminds me how important the above lessons are and how we can take these away and implement them in every day life.
