“You’re not going to get this time back.”
This message was recently mentioned in my favorite podcast (which we all know is The Skinny Confidential Podcast) and it really resonated with me.
Quick little story time: While in Ireland, we took a tour to Giants Causeway. The Giant’s Causeway is an place of about 40,000 basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.
The wind was WICKED and the rain was constant; however, we knew we had a limited time there, so did it the hike anyway. The view was worth it and looking back, I am so glad we took the time to do it.
We weathered the storm and came out on top, just like we will in this whole situation.
This is a reminder that you are not going to get this time back. If my cousin and I did not go for this hike, who knows when we would have ever been able to return back? No the conditions were not ideal, and it was very easy to be negative about the whole situation… but instead we expressed gratitude and put faith that it would be okay.
Guess what? It was ok, and the view was worth it.
I mean this from a very sensitive place, and while we may not be able to take these crazy adventures right now, we can still choose to be positive and to use this time wisely.
You are not going to get this time back-spend it wisely, spend it being positive and grateful for all life has to offer. Whether you take this time for some well-deserved self care or you use it to enjoy the company of your family and those close to you, or you decide to learn a new skill!
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Make a gratitude list
- Write down all the places you’d like to go once this is over (it will pass!)
- Go for walks
- Spend time with your pets
- Try Skillshare or watch youtube videos to learn something new!
- Complete a new workout routine
- Read a good book
- Send a letter to your loved ones
- Call up an old friend
- Share a Mantra
- Practice Meditation
You’re not going to get this time back, why not make the most of it?
