Hopefully, if you made it to this page you like my Instagram photos! While there are definitely downsides to social media, Instagram can be a great channel to share your creativity and unique content. I enjoy sharing my content with the world via Instagram and I enjoy viewing others’ unique content as well.
Here are some tips to snap your best Instagram photos yet!
Stock up on pictures when you can.
You do not need to go on a crazy adventure every single day to take the quality photos. I find that sometimes pictures of me just sitting on the couch do just as well as me jumping off a waterfall. (I do not get it either!) These pictures are relatable though and sometimes I will just be doing nothing and realize, hey now is a good photo op!
Exhibit A & Exhibit B:
Going to the beach or on vacation? Snap a bunch of pictures so you can post them later on! Try different angles, different outfit combos, and different hair styles! These can make such a difference and you will have a greater selection to sort through later on. I will let you in on a HUGE secret…. my Bahamas pictures with the sharks, pigs, and iguanas were all on the SAME day. I wore 3 different swimsuits! A little extra? maybe but I had pictures to share for weeks afterwards because of the various looks!
Captions mean everything.
You can take a beautiful photo, but if the caption is not on point… engagement might not be either. I am a sucker for a lame pun or silly joke, but I also love reading more about the creator or the person in the photo! I learned to share more and more about myself and it is SCARY. Trust me, I know. Once you get passed the scary part, it is a lot of fun!
Exhibit C:
This caption is all about me, myself and I but I believe a lot of my readers can relate to it. Common girl situations, Instagram poses, awkwardness- the usual.
Having a lot of followers is actually not as important as you may think!
Engagement seems to be the talk of Instagram lately. With the algorithms always changing, Instagram is a learning experience. I would like to add that you are creating content to share with the world, and you do not need to validate your creations by the opinions of others. I have done numerous collaborations with brands before and continue to do so. “But you are under 3k followers?” Well, I may not have that many followers but I do have REAL people who are viewing, commenting, and liking my posts. They are organic followers- which means that they care about what I am sharing. I did not buy any of my followers and I will never do so. I am honored to have the amount of followers I do have, because to me, that means you are taking time out of your day to review my creations. That means a lot to me.
Exhibit D:
So far, I have not received a collaboration because I made the first move. I look forward to reaching out to brands soon as I continue to learn more about myself and my personal brand.
I hope you enjoyed these tips & truths and I hope you learned a thing or two. The most important truth- Instagram should be a positive part of your life! If it is not, you might want to consider taking a break from it. Instagram should be a fun outlet for creativity and a way to connect with others who share content that interests you.
Happy instagramming!
